Why this matters in your care
Glycation describes reactions in which sugars interact with molecules such as proteins. Some resulting products accumulate in tissues. The measurement can prompt a broader discussion of metabolic risk and lifestyle, but it does not identify all such products or show where damage has occurred.
What happens during measurement
A small area of skin is positioned on an optical reader. The team checks the measurement site and whether the device can obtain a valid reading. Skin characteristics, local products and device-specific limits can affect the result, so follow the preparation instructions for the actual instrument.
How to use the result
The score is interpreted with age, kidney function, smoking history and other relevant information. It is not a direct glucose reading, does not diagnose diabetes and should not replace validated blood tests. For follow-up, use the same method and comparable measurement conditions.
